Bonnie Soley

The most wonderful thing about living in New Mexico is the light! It’s magical, enchantingly surreal and ever changing! It is a riotous kaleidoscope of colors.

When I paint, whether in watercolors, acrylics, oils or pastels, from my photographs or in “plein aire”, I strive to catch or capture the light and that is the kaleidoscope of the moment.

Although I work in several mediums, sometimes in more than one in a painting, I intuit what medium will be the right one for the particular painting I’m working on. Many of my landscapes are done in acrylics or watercolors.

I prefer pastels or oils for portraits, especially for my endangered species series.
