Emma Gourley

Inspiration is drawn from paintings of the Renaissance period, mosaics and religious icons.
Artists such as Botticelli, Raphael and Michelangelo are often found in the art.  An image or vintage piece of jewelry becomes the focal point of the creative process. Style comes from the love of combining old and new to create one of a kind pieces.

Drawn from a collection of found objects, vintage jewelry and mosaic tiles. Using clay, paints, inks, mica powders, and gold/silver leaf create a jewel-like surface.  Found objects are then embedded into the assemblages.

The process of creating and exploring is a life focus which began in college.  Materials both modern and vintage begin to talk and produce an energy that come through each individual piece.

Emma Gourley is one of the resident artists at Art Ruidoso Gallery.
